The neat thing about reading through the Bible at this stage in my life is that, since I am already familiar with the content, I am more aware of details I never concentrated on before. One example is Matt. 12:40. Do you think this refers to Jesus spending the 3 days between His crucifixion and His resurrection in hell, as some people believe that He did? Some believe that Eph. 4:9 also refers to this belief. What do you think of this reference? Do you think Jesus descended into hell during those 3 days?
I do not believe they are talking about hell as we know it I believe it’s talking about his body with out in the grave for three days like Jonah was in the whale.
I know that one teaching is that during those 3 days Jesus descended into hell and brought the saints back with him. Like you said, it seems it would not be hell as we know it or picture it. It’s an interesting discussion and I know it is too complicated to discuss here. Thanks for your input.
